Mass Effect 1: I’m The Last One To The Party –Part 4

We’re an odd crew my team, but it works. A Krogan, a Quarian and a Human, kickin’ ass across the galaxy.

If you’re just tuning in to this thread, here are the other installments for your reading pleasure.

Part One
Part Two
Part Three

I’ve mentioned this issue before, but it is time for a bug rant.

For some reason, sometimes your party members just get stuck. You’ll be charging up the hill towards the enemy, and they’ll just stay there behind a rock or the Mako. Stuck. You’ll use the tactical arrow, and they won’t move. “I’m blocked!” they’ll reply. “No. You’re. Not.” I wish I could tell them. Some unseen force traps them there. Where is this obstacle of which you speak?

The best thing to do is just save, and restart the game. It’s like that IT joke, ‘have you tried turning it off and on again?’ This is hard, though, when you are in the middle of a series of battles, where you can’t save.

I ran into another bug where Tali, one of my favorite characters to bring on missions, wouldn’t stop being in forward attack mode. We were in a series of battles, and there she’d go, charging ahead like she thought she was a Krogan. That’s Rex’s job! GET BACK BEHIND THE LINE YOU PIECE OF FLOTILLA FLOSTSAM!

Harsh words, I know. But she was using melee attacks and has the physical strength of a blade of grass!  In my heart, I know it wasn’t her fault, just faulty code, but emotions can run high. Sorry guys, I just had to get that off my chest.

  1. Still can’t get my girlfriend to play this game. She’s all over Dragon Age, but the sci-fi counterpart with a more engaging story, better voice acting and far more original multifaceted universe? Nooooooo, that can’t be worthwhile.

Anyway, enjoying these, so keep ‘em coming! I admire women who play Mass Effect, you do your species proud!

  2. Gracias! That’s funny, I haven’t played Dragon Age yet. You may see my failings at playing Oblivion in an earlier post. Of course I’m told that I would fair just fine at Dragon Age. Tell your girlfriend I also encourage her to give Mass Effect a go. It may not have dragons, but it does have the occasional Thresher Maw. -.^
Thanks for the props and of course, for reading!

  3. Yeah, the 360 version had similar glitches. There were a couple occasions where my squadmates would simply stop following me. I think I could still order them to move to different locations. But that was the only way I could move them. And even it didn’t always work right. Oh well.

    • Yes, I had that bug too. I think it was just a really ambitious project. It can be so infuriating. But oh well, exactly. Won’t stop me from finishing.
One big thanks for all your reading and wonderful comments!
