So what’s the deal with these spin-off films? I promised myself that I wouldn’t get caught back up in the watching and waiting for a Star Wars sequel/prequel, after having been so burned in the past. But I’ve failed, terribly. With the news that not only is there a sequel on its way but now spin-off films as well, I’m hooked.

Are they going to do this like the lead-up to The Avengers? That was a good move. I don’t know about you but I thought Thor was kind of awesome, for what it was. But that said, what would it be like in the Star Wars universe? I’m so torn. It could be good, because maybe the writers of the next full-on “film” won’t have to jam too much into it. That was the success of all the movies leading to The Avengers.

Bottom line: I’m on the edge of my seat to see what the next move is. What characters are they going to establish with these projects? I need to know! Ahg! My entire childhood was filled with the dream of new Star Wars adventures to enjoy, and like I said, I got burned.

I wonder if they’re going to tap into any of the huge archive of material that is the extended Star Wars universe. If they do, I’ll be ready with my Star Wars Encyclopedia and endless stacks of paperback novels.

The characters I most wonder if they’ll keep are Leia and Han’s children; the Solo twins and Anakin, Jr. (as I call him). And also Tenel Ka and Mara Jade. I really hope they keep Tenel Ka, because that means they’ll keep the existence of Dathomir, which is awesome, annnnd the Hapes Consortium, which is also awesome.
